Reading a comparison

Compare cover types first: the cover decides how early a ball grips the lane. Storm calls solid covers "particularly effective on fresh oil patterns," pearls suit medium to dry lanes, and hybrids sit between. Then compare the core numbers:

  • RG: Storm says "a low RG ball will rev up quickly and roll smoothly," while "a high RG ball delays its revving."
  • Differential: "A high differential ball will create a sharper angle of entry into the pins," and a low one gives "a more predictable, controlled motion."
  • Mass bias (intermediate differential) is published for asymmetric cores only.

Small gaps on paper can disappear once a ball is drilled, so treat close numbers as close. Every number is the maker's own, checked 21 October 2026; see each ball's page for its source.
